Richard Strauss
The Grange
Surrounded by war, the widowed Countess amuses herself with artists. Two of them vie for her heart but only broach the topic through their art. Will mere words or music most touch her soul? Who will win? Her brother introduces some light entertainment - a flouncy actress, a dancer, a couple of crazy egotistical Italians. Sung in German with surtitles.
Running times: 5.30 – 6.30 (Act 1), 6.30 – 8.10 (interval), 8.10- 9.35 (Act 2)
